Get Big Results with Micro Conditioning!

I first heard about the concept of micro conditioning a few months ago from a chiropractic colleague of mine.

The concept is so simple and makes so much sense I was surprised I had never heard of it before!

Picture this - your neck is in so much pain that even the thought of moving it causes your heart to start racing! You avoid leaving the house because the thought of your car hitting potholes in the road makes you cringe! You've tried everything, chiropractic adjustments, pain medication, steroid injections, hypnotherapy. Nothing has worked! Your friends and family try to offer advice, but they just don't understand your pain. You've given up hope. You're determined never to move your neck again.

Enter - Micro Conditioning.

Micro conditioning works on the principle that gentle tiny movement can over time lead to big results.

In the case of neck pain, the therapist would work on turning the head in micro range of motion at each therapy session.

Maybe half an inch to the right and back to centre for 10 minutes - therapy session complete.

Overtime, you work your way up to turning your head all the way to the left and all the way to the right without pain!

This process can be slow - taking weeks or months or years - but without micro change there would have been zero change!

When you think about it, most things in nature work this way!

Seeds grow into sprouts that grow into plants that bud flowers that eventually bloom.

Our hair and nails grow so slowly we don't notice.

Our brains aren't fully mature until into our twenties.

Weight loss (or muscle gain) feel dreadfully slow.

We're so used to getting things at lightening speed - an internet search yields immediate results, a text message reaches it's destination in a split second, we can binge watch our favourite shows.

There was a time when immediate gratification was not so easy to come by and delayed gratification was the norm.

Delayed gratification is one of the most effective personal traits of successful people.

If you can manage your need to be satisfied in the moment you can thrive in your career, relationships, health and finances.

Micro change and delayed gratification go hand and hand!

You need to keep your eyes on the prize, the end goal, the thing you really want instead of the thing you want right now!

Want to build your wealth? Resist the temptation to spend your whole paycheque and put a little extra in your investment portfolio. Just a dollar to start. Celebrate!

Want to conquer binge eating? Resist the temptation to eat the whole bag of chips and save some for tomorrow. Just 3 or 4 chips to start. Celebrate!

Want to improve your cardiovascular health? Resist the temptation to stay sedentary. Maybe check your step counter app and just add 10 steps to your total for the day. Celebrate!

Get small wins under your belt.

Don't rush your goals.

Make micro progress.

Over time you will build your capacity for change, your resilience and your confidence.

Your results will come! Stay the course!
